Wheesung and Kim Taewoo invite K.Will and Homme to their two-man show On August 9, 2011

It’s been announced that K.Will and Homme would be the musical guests for Wheesung and Kim Taewoo’s first duo concert, ‘2011 Two Man Show – Soul Twins‘!
The concert will run from August 12th to the 13th in the city of Yang Il at Olympic Hall. Reportedly, Wheesung himself asked the two guests to appear at the concert.
Fans are said to be excited by the news, as all of the singers involved are known to be close friends. Considering how Wheesung, Kim Taewoo, K.Will, and Homme are all known to be powerhouse vocalists, this concert is certainly shaping up to be quite the musical event!

Jaejoong’s accessories receive high bids through auction On August 9, 2011

JYJ Jaejoong’s accessories have received bids of over $1,000 USD.
SBS is currently running ‘Star Sharing Auction‘ in which the main characters from SBS drama’s, “Protect the Boss”, “Scent of a Woman”, “Miss Ahjumma”, and “Warrior Baek Dong Soo”, have donated personal items to be put up for auction.
Out of all the items in the auction, Jaejoong’s necklace and bracelet have received the most attention. The auction for the accessories started at approximately $200 USD on August 3rd, and the bids have risen to more than $1000 USD, as of August 8th. The auction for Jaejoong’s accessories will end on September 30th.
Another item of interest was the jacket of Warrior Baek Dong Soo’s star, Yoo Seung Ho. The jacket’s starting price was about $80 USD on July 4th, and the current bid is around $400 USD. The jacket auction will end on the 31st.

Yoo Jae Suk wanted to be a politician? On August 9, 2011

On an SBS morning news program, a segment called ‘Star Secret’ delved into the student days of Korea’s popular MC Yoo Jae Suk.
His appearance from his high school days isn’t all too different from his current appearance. However, the written information on his life record was somewhat surprising.
In his first year of high school, he wrote that he wanted to learn management at Yonsei University while his parents wanted him to learn about livestock at Seoul University. Proceeding to his third year, both Yoo Jae Suk and his parents wanted him to learn political science and diplomacy.
Also, under the subject of his behavior, it was written, “He is masculine and has a lot of friends because he is quite active and delightful.”
Lastly, his IQ was also revealed to be considerably higher than normal at 124.
Netizens commented, “Entering the world of politics in the future?” “Study of livestock also suits him well,” and, “His abilities must come from his high IQ.”

[Review] ‘Mr. Simple’ by Super Junior On August 9, 2011

Super Junior are professionals at melting entire K-Pop communities to bubbling puddles of goo. They hold more power in the palm of their hands than most boy bands combined, and so it comes as no surprise that news of their comeback completely dominated the international K-Pop community. Needless to say, the concept (as wacky as it may be) served its purpose – to grab all eyes and ears towards Super Junior like moths to a neon-colored flame.
With the release of ‘Mr. Simple‘, Super Junior’s fifth studio album, consider yourself jet-packing to the light and getting fried.
Their image was loud and eclectic, bold and bewildering. It left me wondering, how would this album actually sound? Is it as coo-coo bananas as what I’m looking at?

Super Junior’s Kangin helps out in flood recovery On August 6, 2011

Super Junior’s panda bear, Kangin (26; Kim Youngwoon) enlisted in the army last July and recently made a public appearance.
Currently in the military as a active-duty soldier, Kangin committed to supporting the flood recovery from July 28th to August 2nd.


According to a military official, the Hyungchon Village in Seoul was the area where Kangin and his group were assigned to. This area had been damaged the most from the recent storm and was put under intensive flood recovery operation; nearly 300-400 soldiers were assigned to support the citizens in this particular area.
During this operation, soldiers had to go down to the basement and dig up the mud themselves without the use of equipment; the soldiers worked hard all throughout the weekend to help out in the recovery.

Meanwhile, Kangin, who had voluntarily enrolled into the army after admitting guilt to his DUI and assault charges, didn’t hesitate in going into the dirty mud water and even took the initiative according to his fellow soldiers.
A military official stated, “In Kangin’s case, there was the possibility of some trouble because he is older than most of the soldiers who are also higher than him in ranking. But he’s getting along with the others very well and acts as the youngest soldier of the group”. He also added that he wishes that Kangin will safely finish whats left of his military service and succeed in making his comeback as a singer.

SHINee’s fan parody CF receives attention On August 6, 2011

A parody video, made by fans, is attracting attention for their clever rendition of the SHINee’s 2009 Oddugi noodle snack advertisement.
This comical video was uploaded on August 5th, on a internet cafe and was titled, “Remake of SHINee’s snack ad by SHINee fans!”
In the video, five fan girls are wearing masks with the faces of the SHINee members and are imitating the the same moves in the original advertisement. The video had received many views especially because the video editing was very similar to the original.
Netizens who came across this parody video commented, “I hope SHINee gets to see this!“, “It’s fun to watch anytime. This video was very well made“, “Your skills are amazing! The best~!” and “Is it true that you guys went to college with this video?“.

HITT’s Wooram recently took part in a unique photoshoot with a fashion magazine, and revealed that he would like to emulate Daniel Henney and 2PM’s Taecyeon.
The photoshoot called for the rookie to sport some makeup, since the concept was ‘men who wear makeup’. Wooram said, “I want to emulate the masculinity of Daniel Henney and 2PM’s Taecyeon.”

JYJ holds a fan meet for ‘NII’ On August 4, 2011

 On July 30th, JYJ held a special fan meet with 500 fans for their endorsement brand, ‘NII‘, at the chain store in Lotte Youngdeungpo.
Out of the 500 fans who were invited, 100 of them were said to have travelled from Japan specifically to meet JYJ. To the attendees’ delight, various events were planned, such as, ‘Ask JYJ’, ‘Lucky Draw for a Polaroid Picture’, and ‘Photozone Life-size Statue’ .
After an honest interview, JYJ worked to converse with their fans as much as possible. Concluding the event, the boys thanked their fans for coming and expressed that it was upsetting it was ending so fast. The event successfully concluded with the boys asking their fans to look forward to their acting and music projects in the future.

Super Junior holds press conference for comeback album, “Mr. Simple” On August 4, 2011

 On August 4th, Super Junior held a press conference for their fifth album at the Imperial Palace Hotel in Nonhyun-dong, Seoul.
Hosted by Kim Sung Joo, the event brought in over 200 media outlets from Korea, China, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Japan, and many other countries.
Because members Leeteuk and Heechul are now 28 year olds, the matter of mandatory enlistment for them is now looming over the group. All fit Korean males are required to serve 2 years in the army.
Leader Leeteuk began, “Because I have to enlist in the army, we will be promoting this album for as long as possible. I believe that the army is a duty that every Korean man must fulfill, so I will be enlisting when the time comes for me to do so.”

Leeteuk added, “Because of the army, we are planning not an Asian tour, but a world tour. I’m scared but not pressured by it. I want to come back with an album as soon as I am discharged from the army. I’ll make sure that there’s nothing to wait for so please wait for me.”
He continued, “The leaders of K-Pop, Super Junior, have finally made their comeback after a year and two months.  We promise to promote as hard as ever.”
Shindong added, “I thought a lot about wanting to show everyone what we prepared as quickly as possible. Our music video will be released today, so please look forward to it.”
Sungmin said, “Everyone gave us so much love for our fourth album, so we will be going out to as many stages as possible to show everything we have.”
Eunhyuk continued, “There’s some pressure since we’re making a comeback amidst such intense attention, but the members all have a tight bond together so I’m looking forward to our promotions.”
When asked about their title track, “Mr. Simple“, Leeteuk replied, “It’s a track that emphasizes all the best parts about Super Junior. There are some who say it’s similar to ‘Sorry Sorry‘ and ‘Bonamana‘, but we’re sure that if you listen to it, you’ll come away with a different feel. There have been many unfortunate events going around lately, so we hope that everyone listens to our songs and receive positive energy.”
Shindong concluded with a smile, “We’ve prepared a lot of performances this time, even choreography that each of the members came up with on their own.”
Super Junior will be making their comeback on KBS’s ‘Music Bank‘ on August 5th.

CNBLUE sells out ‘Blue Storm’ concert tickets On August 4, 2011

 Earlier this week, CNBLUE revealed that they would be kicking off their first Asian tour, “CNBLUE 2011 Asian Tour Concert ‘Blue Storm‘” in September.
Tickets finally went on sale through Interpark and other websites on the afternoon of August 3rd, and as expected, all seats sold out just moments after opening! Websites revealed that they had actually crashed or experienced a severe lag in their servers due to the influx of fans.
FNC Music revealed, “We’re receiving endless calls from fans who weren’t able to purchase tickets because they were sold out just moments after going on sale. After hearing of the news, the members of CNBLUE are rehearsing harder than ever for the concert.”
The concert will kick off in Korea on September 17th and 18th.
